Don’t Miss a Beat: SERVPRO of West Pensacola Lessens Viral Spread with New Technology

A recent study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) suggests some viruses may remain on surfaces for days. NIH also says transmission can take place between a completely healthy person and someone not yet exhibiting apparent symptoms. For essential businesses, regular and thorough application of disinfects can proactively reduce the spread of virus-causing pathogens.

SERVPRO of West Pensacola now provides commercial cleaning using electrostatic spray technology to quickly improve the environmental health and safety of a business. A patented treatment, our system provides an electrostatic charge to liquid disinfectants as they leave a spray nozzle, causing them to adhere to practically any surface. This no-touch application can lessen contamination by going beyond the scope of regular cleaning.

In the video, the technician is applying a disinfectant using an electrostatic sprayer.  He is employing an “S” movement pattern and moving quickly through the structure per the sprayer manufacturer’s instructions.

Much of the positively charged mist is extremely fine and not visible to the naked eye. It wraps around all objects in the environment, which carry a natural negative charge, and transfers to the surfaces dry. The mist will even go behind objects such as the cabinetry in the video, and completely envelop it. Moving quickly helps prevent the mist from condensing on the technician and the emitter itself, which both also carry a slight negative charge.

The disinfectant being dispersed is environmentally safe for humans and other animals, and this is a proactive application where there are no known cases of infection. Full PPE for the technician was not necessary in this case.

Economy of Scale While Decreasing Germ Count

Traditional spray and wipe cleaning requires 93 ounces of product, and one technician to cover 3,125 square feet in one hour. With this technology, one SERVPRO technician uses 2.4 ounces of product and disinfects 54,000 square feet per hour.

Count on SERVPRO of West Pensacola for cost-effective targeted and consistent cleaning with less waste. Call (850) 469-1160 for 24/7 emergency service in the Pensacola area.
